The NCR program provides a therapeutic living environment for young men and women between the ages of 18 and 22 with mental health challenges. The program goal is to help young adults referred by the Department of Mental Health to develop independent living skills, healthy relationships, personal independence, and the skills to manage their illness. The program has an on-site clinician and vocational day programming. The goal is to teach the skills necessary for the young adults to live independently. The program utilizes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as the treatment model.
Residential Counselors ensure a supportive, nurturing, and structured environment, while providing guidance, advocacy, and case management to the youth. Counselors help to empower the youth served through the use of a trauma informed care approach; utilizing such skills as compromising, negotiation, and problem solving.
Residential Counselors help to keep the youth integrated into the community both locally and in their home towns, including the planning, implementation and transportation to various community activities.
Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services/Social Services related field preferred or experience and/or internship working with youth or young adults.
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED/HiSET.
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Word.
CPR, First Aid, MAP (Medication Administration Program) and SOLVE (Strategies of Limiting Violent Episodes) certified or certifiable. Open Sky Community Services provides all required trainings.
