The Laboratory Instrument Specialist collaborates with department management to support efficient and compliant operations. Ensure customer focused division readiness.

This job contributes to organizational success by:

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of analytical instrumentation, methodology, regulatory compliance and industry guidelines.
  • Implement strategies to improve efficiency, current processes and reduce vendor maintenance cost.
  • Maintain all BTS labs in a state of preparedness.
  • Perform and document routine maintenance and calibration of equipment and instrumentation at scheduled intervals. Ensure that timely action is taken and documented when non-routine maintenance is required.
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance activities undertaken by service contractors. Ensure that all records are collected and retained in a manner consistent with Good Laboratory Practices and archived in accordance with company-wide and local SOPs.
  • Assist with equipment qualification activities under the direction of the BTS Team Leader.
  • Maintain tracking and capacity records for storage chambers. Receive inventory and store materials in accordance with SOP and/or protocol requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies required for efficient functioning of Bioanalytical Sciences department. Receive and store supplies, and stock local or centralized storage as needed.
  • Maintain log of all equipment across the BTS division inclusive of equipment status, schedule activities, etc.
  • Provide management with periodic reports on the status of equipment readiness along with resource needs and roadblocks.
  • Support compilation of metrics and other monitoring materials for review by local and divisional management.
  • Assists in the oversight of IT-based systems across the Bioanalytical and Translational Sciences division.
  • Coordinates the archival of electronic data as directed by local system SOPs.
  • Maintain log of all equipment across the BTS division inclusive of equipment status, schedule activities, etc.
  • Comply with all safety directives, department safety procedures and ensure safe working practices.
  • Timely responses to all external and internal customers regarding equipment and maintenance activities.
  • Assist Quality Assurance and department Managers during sponsor and regulatory audits as required.
  • Perform any other duties as required or assigned.
  • Bachelors or associates degree in a chemistry, quality or IT discipline, or equivalent experience. Clear understanding of GLP documentation practices.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills as well as ability to interface effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently to effectively execute all responsibilities within scheduled time frames.
  • Understanding of basic laboratory principles and utilization of laboratory equipment. Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • 0-2 years experience in GLP environment
